Post-doc position: Combination of 7T imaging with tDCS

A post-doc position is available in the group of Prof. Peter at the University of Bern, Department of Old Age Psychiatry and Psychotherapy (https://tinyurl.com/peterLab). The group uses advanced cognitive neuroscience methods (structural and functional 3 and 7T MRI, non-invasive brain stimulation including in combination with fMRI), to investigate mechanisms underlying episodic memory formation. The group also develops non-pharmacological interventions to improve memory function.

Tasks and responsibilities

The successful candidate's main role is the supervision of postgraduate students in conducting a research project, and evaluate its data, that explores the role of the prefrontal cortex in remembering and forgetting. The project employs tDCS in combination with 7T imaging in young and older healthy adults as well as in patients with major depression.

Requirements

Highly motivated candidates with a PhD in psychology, neuroscience, or a related discipline are encouraged to apply. Profound theoretical knowledge and practical experience in MRI data acquisition/ analysis (particularly 7T) is mandatory; experience in the combined use of fMRI and non-invasive brain stimulation will be a plus. Programming skills (Python, Matlab) are required. Proficiency in English is mandatory, proficiency in German is not required.
