We are looking for a highly motivated and dynamic researcher for a 1-year position to contribute to research within the field of drug safety, pharmacovigilance and pharmacoepidemiology, to commence 12 October 2020 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The Department of Drug Design and Pharmacology is engaged in interdisciplinary research, teaching and innovation within the pharmaceutical sciences. The Department is organized in four disciplines, focusing on medicinal chemistry, peptides and protein research, molecular and cellular pharmacology and translational pharmacology. Further, the Department has extensive interactions and collaborations with the pharmaceutical industry in Denmark and abroad. More information about the Department can be found at drug.ku.dk.

Pharmacovigilance Research Center

The postdoc position is in the Pharmacovigilance Research Center headed by Professor Morten Andersen, and part of the Discipline of Translational Pharmacology. The Center aims to develop innovative methods and tools that will shape the future surveillance of medicines’ safety as well as generating new evidence contributing to improve the evaluation of benefits/risks of medicines, exploiting the tremendous resource of big healthcare data from the Danish and Nordic National Registers. We aspire to strengthen the field of pharmacovigilance as an academic and scientific discipline and to create a truly interdisciplinary research environment through collaboration with clinical pharmacy, clinical pharmacology, pharmacometrics, regulatory science and clinical departments.

Your job

You will be working with register data in collaboration with other team members within the focus areas: Drug safety, pharmacovigilance and pharmacoepidemiology. You will be connected to an ongoing research project on the real-world safety and effectiveness of cancer immunotherapy, where you will contribute to establishing a national database that combines clinical and register data. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to participate in other pharmacoepidemiological projects and contribute actively to the expansion and growth of the Pharmacovigilance Research Center. The position will involve interdisciplinary collaborations within the university, with clinical departments, (inter)national scientific groups, regulatory agencies, as well as other public and private partners.

Profile

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic scientist with the following competencies and experience:

Essential experience and skills:

• A PhD degree or similar qualifications within medical sciences, pharmaceutical sciences, public health, biostatistics or related research field
• Research experience within drug safety, pharmacovigilance, pharmacoepidemiology or clinical epidemiology
• Experience with using big healthcare data such as healthcare registers, electronic health records and/or clinical trial databases
• Qualifications within epidemiological study design and analysis

Desirable experience and skills:

• Qualifications within toxicology, clinical oncology, data management, statistical programming, data science, biostatistics or bioinformatics will also be considered positive for the position
• Good interpersonal skills and an enterprising, collaborative and innovative mindset
• Proficient communication skills and ability to work in teams
• Excellent English skills written and spoken

Terms of employment

The employment as postdoc is a full time and fixed-term position for 1 year. Starting date is 12 October 2020 or after agreement.

Salary, pension and terms of employment will be in accordance with the agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations). Currently, the monthly salary starts at 34,650 DKK/ approx. 4,650 Euro (April 2020-level). Depending on qualifications, a supplement may be negotiated. The employer will pay an additional 17.1 % to your pension fund.

Non-Danish and Danish applicants may be eligible for tax reductions, if they hold a PhD degree and have not lived in Denmark the last 10 years.

The position is covered by the “Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff at the Universities” of December 11, 2019.
