Postdoc in clinical neuroscience
100 %

We aim to develop biomarkers that can quickly and reliably detect the state of disease in scalp EEG recordings of children with focal epilepsy. In particular, High-Frequency Oscillations (HFO) have been recently proposed as promising biomarkers for therapy monitoring.

Your responsibilities

You will be responsible for the computational and theoretical aspects of the project, which aims to develop the optimal algorithms for identifying these biomarkers. While a large body of data is already available, you will also participate in data acquisition from scalp EEG recordings in children with epilepsy.

Your profile

You have a PhD degree in Neuroscience, Psychology, Physics or related fields; knowledge in programming, time series analysis and machine learning; good written and spoken English; strong team-working abilities and excellent communication skills. Basic knowledge in neuroscience is required. For communicating with patients and technicians during EEG recordings, some German would be beneficial.

What we offer

We offer advanced, interdisciplinary Postdoc training and participation in cutting-edge clinical neuroscience research projects in a lively and interactive educational atmosphere. The highly competitive salary follows Swiss National Science Foundation guidelines. The successful candidate will benefit from the ZNZ postdoctoral program.

Place of work

You will spend time both at the Department of Neurosurgery of the University Hospital Zurich and at the Department of Neuropediatrics of the University Children's Hospital Zurich.

Start of employment

The employment start date is to be mutually agreed. The position is available now. Given the tight schedule and visa requirements, only EU citizens or Swiss residents can be accepted.
