Postdoc Position in Mechanobiology

Masaryk University

Czech Republic

Michal Masařík Research Group – Cancer Research Lab, Faculty of Medicine, Masaryk University, Brno, Czech Republic

Deadline: 31 January 2026
Start Date: April 2026 (or upon agreement)
Type: Full-Time, 2-year appointment

Position Overview

The Cancer Mechanobiology section of Michal Masařík Laboratory investigates how cytoskeletal organization and cellular mechanics influence cancer cell metabolism, invasiveness, and adaptation to the microenvironment. Combining experimental mechanobiology, advanced light microscopy, and computational modeling, we aim to understand the physical and molecular principles of cancer cell plasticity.

We are seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow in Molecular Mechanobiology to lead and manage the biological aspects of our projects, including establishing genetically and fluorescently modified cancer cell models, designing molecular interventions, and defining mechanistically testable hypotheses in 2D and 3D systems.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. (or equivalent) awarded within the last 7 years.

  • Minimum of 2 years of research experience outside the Czech Republic within the past 3 years, or a Ph.D. from an international institution within the last 3 years.

  • Publication record with at least three research articles in the past three years, with at least two in Q1 journals.

  • Expertise in mammalian cell engineering: CRISPR/Cas, lentiviral or transposon-mediated transgenesis, stable fluorescent/biosensor constructs.

  • Knowledge of cytoskeletal/adhesion biology or mechanotransduction signaling (e.g., YAP/TAZ, integrins).

  • Familiarity with advanced microscopy (confocal, SIM, live-cell imaging) and image analysis is advantageous.

  • Strong conceptual thinking, experimental design skills, and ability to work in an interdisciplinary environment.
