The division seeks postdoctoral researchers to join a multidisciplinary team developing molten salt-based chemical and electrochemical processes for applications including electrometallurgy, advanced nuclear systems, and chemical production. The appointee will develop a fundamental understanding of reaction mechanisms in molten salts, design and implement advanced flow systems and sensors, and apply chemical/electrochemical insights to process optimization and scale-up.
Perform experiments with multimodal sensors to advance understanding of molten salt chemistry and electrochemistry.
Develop novel process monitoring and control technologies for molten salt and liquid metal systems.
Design advanced molten salt flow systems for accelerated material processing.
Develop and test new materials and cell configurations for improved performance.
Analyze reaction pathways and kinetics for molten salt systems.
Communicate findings through technical reports, presentations, and publications.
Contribute to proposals and technical ideas to advance molten salt applications.
Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
0–5 years post-Ph.D. experience or equivalent research experience.
Ability to devise and perform experiments, use and maintain laboratory equipment, and interpret data.
Knowledge of chemical/material processing principles and electrochemistry.
Skilled in using computers for experiment design, control, and data analysis.
Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.

Experience with hazardous materials in controlled environments (e.g., gloveboxes).
