The Opportunity

You will perform research in the area of experimental and computational modelling of coronary artery blood flow from / in stented and non-stented phantoms. Specifically, the Postdoctoral Fellow will build an arterial mock loop for endothelia cell seeding within phantoms for stenting and 3D PIV flow measurements. Histology images will be analysed and combined in a final report for two stent technique recommendation.  

The role of Postdoctoral Fellow reports to Dr Susann Beier and has no direct reports. 

  • Salary (Level A): $95,449 - $102,112 (AUD) + 9.5% superannuation
  • 12-month fixed term contract with possible extension
  • Full-time position
  • Location: Kensington Campus – Sydney, Australia

Selection Criteria

  • PhD (or soon to be awarded) in biofluid or similar area.
  • Able to conduct independent research with limited supervision.
  • Track record of publications and conference presentations relative to opportunity. 
  • Able to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships.
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong expertise in medical image analysis
  • Expert in computational modelling for vascular flows
  • Proficiency in experimental 3D flow measurements, knowledge in working with biological cells is preferred
  • Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities
