Postdoctoral Fellow in Biology

University of Queensland

Australia

About UQ

As part of the UQ community, you’ll have the opportunity to work alongside the brightest minds, who have joined us from all over the world, and within an environment where interdisciplinary collaborations are encouraged.

As part of our commitment to research excellence, we are proud to provide our staff with access to world-class facilities and equipment, grant writing support, greater research funding opportunities, and post-fellowship contracts via our UQ Amplify initiative.

At the core of our teaching remains our students, and their experience with us sets a foundation for success far beyond graduation. Not only do we have one of the largest PhD enrolments in Australia, but we have also made a commitment to making education opportunities available for all Queenslanders, regardless of personal, financial, or geographical barriers.

About This Opportunity

The Stow lab at the University of Queensland’s Institute for Molecular Biology (IMB) is seeking three experienced cell biologists or immunologists to join a multi-disciplinary team of researchers and industry partners to study protein trafficking, receptor signalling and migration of immune cells and epithelial cells in mucosal tissues and in inflammation. Three appointments are available at up to 3 years in contract duration.  This is an exciting opportunity to work with a dynamic team using state-of-the art facilities at IMB and cutting-edge methods for fluorescence microscopy and live cell imaging, coupled with biochemical, molecular biology and cell function assays.  We work with collaborators to study inflammatory disease, inherited diseases, cancer and infection in humans and model organisms.

You will lead a grant-funded project within the lab, collaborating with national and international research and industry partners, participating in supervision of research staff and students and attending meetings and conferences for dissemination of findings. Our research uses cultured cells, organoids and model organisms for in vitro and in vivo imaging.  At least one of these appointments will involve working with a team innovating new approaches in fluorescence microscopy and image analysis as part of a national Centre of Excellence.

You will have some experience in laboratory research, working with confocal microscopy and with cell cultures or model organisms.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to focus their efforts on developing their expertise and emerging research profile in cell biology with three appointments available at up to 3 years in contract duration.
