Postdoctoral Fellow in Pediatrics

Indiana University

United States

Position Summary

A postdoctoral fellowship is available in the Herman B Wells Center for Pediatric Research at the Indiana University School of Medicine. Currently we are studying the role of relevant in vitro and ex vivo models of cancer including mouse models and 3-dimensional co-cultures of tumor cells and relevant cells from the microenvironment. Our team seeks to understand the role of targeted therapy and novel approaches that target the tumor microenvironment in addition to signaling pathways within the tumor. Experience with immune-oncology is desirable for interrogation of the tumor microenvironment and infiltration of various immune cells within the tumor. This position will coordinate and conduct daily monitoring of small animals and pharmacological injections relative to cancer modeling and target validation. This position will closely monitor experimental outcomes and analyze data from these outcomes. Duties and responsibilities are to perform in vivo characterization of mouse models and cell culture experiments. Techniques include dosing of mice, implant of tumor (both subcutaneous and orthotopic), primary and cancer cell culture, transfection, qPCR, immunoblot, and immunofluorescence. This research makes extensive use of cell and molecular biology techniques and includes small animal (mouse) handling and dosing.

Basic Qualifications

PhD in Molecular or Cell Biology, Physiology, or a related field and/or MD. The candidate should be able to work independently as well as direct others, design and conduct experiments, and have effective oral and written communication skills. Prior experience or willingness to work with animal (mouse/rat) models is required.
