Position Description

Area: Musculo-skleletal disease or skin aging models and drug development

Duration: 1 year; based on performance can be extended for up to 3 years

Expected starting date: Application review will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.

Starting annual stipend: CAD 45,000/yr plus benefits


We are seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic and independently thinking post-doctoral candidate studying novel approaches to develop multifunctional drug therapies for musculoskeletal diseases an/or skin ageing. The candidate will work under the direct supervision of Dr. Dieter Brömme and will use cellular, biochemical, and various imaging approaches (Confocal/SEM/TEM/µCT). The candidate will be part of collaborative team. The minimum academic requirement is Ph.D. in a life science/medical science subject that should not be older than 2-3 years.

  • Candidates must have extensive experience in biochemistry, cell biology, musculoskeletal or skin ageing biology, and rodent disease models.
  • Candidate must have extensive experience in drug application methods (oral, injectable, topical), animal care and record keeping, blood withdrawal and animal dissecting skills.
  • Candidate is required to have histology and immunohistochemistry skills.
  • Hands-on experience in various imaging (µCT, confocal time-lapse, SEM) and cell-sorting techniques is expected.
  • Some experience in pharmacokinetic techniques and analysis would be beneficial.
  • The candidate has excellent verbal and written skills in English and has demonstrated the capability to write research protocols and papers as well as to maintain meticulous research records.
  • Candidate must be independent yet collaborative, self-motivated, capable of creative thinking, and driven with a desire to pursue a career as an independent academic scientist or a career in a drug development company.
