The University of Chicago seeks outstanding faculty in synthetic biology to work at the interface of immunology, molecular biology, chemistry, and bioengineering, with applications in cancer immunotherapy. Primary departmental appointment will align with the candidate’s research focus.
Research areas of interest include (but are not limited to):
Design of synthetic circuits for self-regulated T cells
Engineering immunological cellular ecosystems
Genome-scale engineering
Engineering cells for therapeutic applications
Faculty are expected to develop independent research programs, supervise graduate and undergraduate students, and contribute to teaching.
Doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) in biomedicine, cell/molecular biology, synthetic biology, bioengineering, or a related discipline prior to start of employment.
Demonstrated research excellence and potential for independent funding.
Commitment to teaching, mentoring, and collaboration.
Access to state-of-the-art core facilities and interdisciplinary collaborators
Affiliation with multiple degree-granting programs within BSD and PME
Opportunities for collaboration with Argonne National Laboratory and the Marine Biological Laboratory
