Postdoctoral Position in Experimental Nephrology

Karolinska Institute Department of Laboratory Medicine

Sweden

A position for a postdoctoral fellow is available in the laboratory of Dr. Jaakko Patrakka at the Department of Laboratory Medicine, Karolinska Institutet.

The focus of the project is to explore molecular mechanisms of renal glomerular diseases, with a special emphasis on IgA nephropathy. The goal is to identify novel biomarkers and therapeutical targets to diagnose, monitor and treat IgA nephropathy. We perform high throughput molecular profiling of human samples using single cell and bulk RNA-sequencing. Identified target genes/pathways are analysed using mouse and cell culture models. We are working in close collaboration with AstraZeneca to take the targets further to develop novel reno-protective therapeutics.

We are seeking enthusiastic applicants who have a thorough training in molecular and cell biology. Previous work in the field of experimental nephrology is preferred. Moreover, earlier experience with mouse and FACS is an advantage. Candidates should have excellent laboratory and organizational skills, be keen to advance the project and have a proven publication record. The selected candidate will work as part of a team, in close collaboration with other postdocs and graduate students.
