The Comparative Perinatal Development group (Faculty of Pharmaceutical, Biomedical and Veterinary Sciences) is seeking a part-time postdoctoral researcher for our “From Pigs to Paediatrics” project, bridging gaps in intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR) and intestinal barrier function studies.
As a postdoctoral scholar, you will:
Conduct research on perinatal gut development in pigs, focusing on intestinal barrier function in suckling pigs, including field trials and in vitro studies.
Contribute to securing research funding through grant applications and collaborations.
Mentor PhD and master’s students in their research projects.
Participate in teaching activities in Laboratory Animal Sciences, including lecturing, supervising assignments, and coordinating practical sessions.
Represent the research group and contribute to academic service, both internally and externally.
PhD in Life Sciences, preferably Veterinary Medicine or Bioscience Engineering (or to be completed before starting).
Research skills aligned with the faculty and university’s policies.
Teaching competencies aligned with the University of Antwerp’s educational vision.
High standards of quality, integrity, creativity, and cooperation.
Fluency in English and proficiency in Dutch.
Qualification for working with laboratory animals (Category C, or Function A and B).
Valid driver’s license B.
Part-time (80%) postdoctoral scholarship for 2 years
