The Department of Psychology and Behavioural Sciences at Aarhus BSS, Aarhus University invites applications for a 3-year postdoctoral position. The starting date is 1st June 2019 or subject to mutual agreement. The position is research-oriented but will also involve teaching assignments.

 Job description
The successful candidate is expected to help develop an independent and innovative research program under the supervision and mentoring of Associate Professor Stefan Pfattheicher. The postdoc will study behavior related to human destructiveness such as aggression, cooperation and punishment, sadism, or empathy. Here, a variety of methods can be used including experimental research paradigms, personality scales, economic games, or physiological measures.

Qualification requirements

  • A PhD in social psychology or in a related field (e.g., personality psychology, behavioral economics, cognitive psychology)
  • Genuine interest in the analysis of destructive behaviors
  • First-authored publications in leading international journals
  • Advanced knowledge in (experimental) research design, statistics, programming of studies, and application and development of theories
  • Fluency in written and spoken English

At the department of Psychology and Behavioural Sciences, we teach and conduct research into the most significant subject areas of psychology. The department employs around 45 academic staff members and 45–50 PhD students. Our researchers have a strong tradition for collaborating with Danish as well as international researchers from many different academic fields, such as health and psychiatry,education, pedagogic, linguistics, philosophy, religious studies, management, economics and neuroscience. We also increasingly focus on expanding our research and teaching to include subject areas such as orgizational development, management and human relations.
