About This Opportunity 

The Postdoctoral Research Fellow/Research Fellow will be working in Associate Professor Ethan Scott's group which generates large volumes of imaging data both from their brain-wide calcium imaging and from their behavioural analyses. This position will involve developing and implementing data management approaches for the handling and analysis of these data.  A Postdoctoral Research Fellow (Level A) will work on this project while also developing their expertise and emerging research profile in their discipline. A Research Fellow (Level B), in addition to the Level A expectations, will develop and run their own research projects in collaboration with team members and fulfil the necessary requirements to contribute to the effective supervision of Honours and Higher Degree by Research Students.

This position is located at our picturesque St Lucia campus, located just 7km from Brisbane’s city centre.

Our Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will hold a PhD in the area of theoretical neuroscience, mathematics, computer science, data science or relevant related fields, and will have experience with coding in Matlab or Python. Expertise and a strong track record in computational neuroscience, image analysis, or mathematical modelling of complex systems will be integral to the success of this role. In addition to your excellent communications capabilities, the candidate will be self-driven and possess demonstrated high-level organisational skills including the ability to work independently and demonstrate evidence of research productivity.

Record of sound and convincing development, as evidenced by first-author publications, participation in leading conferences, and the development of software along with experience in using High Performance Computing environments would be a distinct advantage.

What We Can Offer

This is a full-time, fixed term position for up to two (2) years at Academic level A or B.

For Level A: The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $70,449.07 - $94,637.91 per annum, plus super of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be in the range $82,753.80 - $110,726.35 per annum.

For Level B: The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $99,542.79 - $118,206.74 per annum plus super of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be in the range $116,465.07 - $138,301.88 per annum.
