This position will join the Protagonist Therapeutics team and be involved in its broad discovery efforts utilising their experience in Medicinal and Peptide chemistry. The researcher will be involved in the company’s target-specific drug discovery efforts through the synthesis and biochemical analysis of compounds directed at biological targets.

Protagonist Therapeutics is a clinical stage biopharmaceutical company that has multiple assets at various stages of development. The successful candidate will be part of an industry focused team working closely together where the end-goal is to deliver novel therapeutics. As such the successful candidate will gain experience from drug discovery all the way to the IND -stage drug development.
A PhD (or significant progress towards) in relevant area of Chemistry or Biological Chemistry, in addition to expertise in synthetic peptide or bioorganic chemistry, is essential to the role. A strong understanding in principles of SAR optimisation and how to apply them to lead optimisation will be highly advantageous.

There are up to four (4) full-time, fixed term positions available with possible extension at Academic level A or B.
For Level A: The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $69,342.89 - $92,782.26, plus super of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be in the range $81,131.18 - $108,555.25.
For Level B: The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $97,590.98 - $115,888.95 plus super of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be in the range $114,181.44 - $135,590.08.
