The School of Chemistry and Molecular Biosciences (SCMB) combines the disciplines of Chemistry, Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, Microbiology and Parasitology into a single academic unit. The School has modern research laboratories with state-of-the-art equipment and research infrastructure. The School includes over 50 academic staff, who are widely published internationally and have extensive research backgrounds. The role

The Postdoctoral Research Associate will primarily focus on the use of molecular dynamics simulations to predict the morphologies of organic semiconductor thin films in order to determine whether computer simulated morphologies can be used to predict the structural and performance properties of commercially relevant OPV devices. The person appointed will develop and use novel molecular dynamics simulation methodology to predict the structural details of films containing specific organic semiconducting materials as well as validate the results of the simulations against experimental data in collaboration with researchers from Heliatek GmbH. They will also conduct independent research in areas agreed on by the supervisors as well as advising and supervising postgraduate students working on related research projects.

This position is located at our picturesque St Lucia campus, renowned as one of Australia’s most attractive university campuses, and located just 7km from Brisbane’s city centre. Our Ideal Candidate

The person is required to have a PhD with expert knowledge in the area of molecular dynamics simulations and/or related computational techniques and prior experience in the calculation of optical, charge transport or structural properties based on simulation data with evidence of strong analytical and computational skills. Experience in the study of organic semiconductor thin films and knowledge of experimental diffraction or reflectivity techniques would be a distinct advantage.

Remuneration

This is a full-time, fixed term appointment for 2 years at Academic level A. The remuneration package will be in the range $83,627.77 - $92,782.26 p.a, plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17%.
