About This Opportunity

The primary purpose of the position is to manage and undertake fundamental and applied research in the areas of control systems, robotics and automation, in support to the Smart Machines Group within the School of Mechanical and Mining Engineering.

Our Ideal Candidate

Applicants should possess a PhD in the area of Mechatronic Engineering, Robotics, Automation, or a related field. The applicant should also have experience in at least one of control systems, robotics and automation as well as experience in software development, preferably using the C++ programming language.

We are seeking applicants who have the ability to;

  • Demonstrated effective management of large project/s with strict deadlines.
  • Demonstrated evidence of publications in high quality outlets and ability to prepare effective reports that document research findings.
  • Ability to establish effective relationships with industry, government and other research collaborators.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively and establish a rapport and good working relationships with students and staff.

This is a full-time, fixed term position until 28th February 2022 at Academic Research Level A.

The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $69,342.89-$92,782.26 plus super of up to 17%.
