About This Opportunity

AIBN is seeking a full-time, highly motivated Research Fellow to perform cutting-edge polymer material synthesis research within the Thurecht research group, a multidisciplinary research group located in both AIBN and the Centre for Advanced Imaging (CAI).

The role will comprise the design and fabrication of new membrane technology platforms through advanced materials synthesis and modification techniques. These platforms will then be applied to addressing challenges in separating high-value proteins of interest with an established industrial collaborator.

This position is located at our picturesque St Lucia campus, renowned as one of Australia’s most attractive university campuses, and located just 7km from Brisbane’s city centre. Bounded by the Brisbane River on three sides, and with outstanding public transport connections, our 114-hectare site provides a perfect work environment – you can enjoy the best of both worlds: a vibrant campus with the tradition of an established university.

Our Ideal Candidate

 Our ideal candidate holds a PhD in the areas of polymer and materials chemistry, or an equivalent combination of relevant experiences, training or education. We are seeking applicants who have demonstrated expert knowledge and research experience in;

  • The areas of polymer synthesis and modification, their formation into 3-dimensional networks, and their use in developing membrane technology and applicable materials.
  • Combining information from many different analytical techniques and tools in pursuit of technology development complementing research goals.
  • Dealing with external clients, and a proven capacity to develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Project management and administrative skills.

An appointment to this position is subject to the verification of the highest academic qualification from the conferring institution.

This is a full-time, fixed-term position for up to 2 years at Academic Level A.

The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $69,342.89 - $92,782.26, plus super of up to 17%.
