About This Opportunity

An opportunity exists for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to work with the Social Identity and Groups Network (SIGN). SIGN examines social identity processes that are key to effective functioning in organizational, political, health, and educational domains. International recognition of this work has led to SIGN being identified as a world-leading centre for social identity research. Increasingly too, it has led us to work with industry, government, education and healthcare partners to co-develop solutions to key challenges they face. In this program of work we seek to develop and embed the translational arm of SIGN and create a world-leading applied research centre — SIGNIFY — that capitalizes on these evolving opportunities.

As a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, you will focus your efforts on developing your expertise and emerging research profile. You will be supported and guided by senior academic research staff within the research project. This project is supported by UQ Strategic Funds with Professors Catherine Haslam, Jolanda Jetten, and Alex Haslam as Chief Investigators.

This position is located in the School of Psychology (see below) at our picturesque St Lucia campus, renowned as one of Australia’s most attractive university campuses, and located just 7km from Brisbane’s city centre. Bounded by the Brisbane River on three sides, and with outstanding public transport connections, our 114-hectare site provides a perfect work environment – you can enjoy the best of both worlds: a vibrant campus with the tradition of an established university.

Our Ideal Candidate

You will have completed or are nearing completion of a PhD in Social Psychology. This will be partnered with an emerging profile in research and evidence of publications in reputed refereed journals in the discipline area. A sound knowledge of the social identity approach and demonstrated ability to apply social identity theorizing to advance the understanding of social phenomena is essential.

We value diversity and inclusion, and actively encourage applications from those who bring diversity to the University. Our Diversity and Inclusion webpage contains further information if you require additional support. Accessibility requirements and/or adjustments can be directed to
