Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Industrial Logistics

University of Cambridge Department of Engineering

United Kingdom

The Cambridge University Engineering Department and Darwin College are pleased to announce a 5 year post-doctoral Research Fellowship in Industrial Logistics. The position has been generously supported by SF Express.

The post holder will be located on the University's West Cambridge Campus in Cambridge, UK.

The SF Express Research Fellow will work with multiple research centres within the Department of Engineering, particularly in the Institute for Manufacturing, to work with companies on logistics issues relevant to industrial supply chains and/or healthcare services. The candidate will be free to pursue their own areas of investigation but it is anticipated that their work will clarify the role of new emerging hardware/software technologies and their impact on logistics. This will include organising academic and industrial workshops/events in industrial or healthcare logistics, contributing to a programme in intelligent logistics, and providing teaching in areas relating to industrial logistics.

The successful candidate will have completed (or be near to completing) a PhD in an area relating to logistics engineering and to have demonstrated excellence in this work through publications and innovative development. An understanding in the industrial or service needs in this area will be important and practical experience would be of benefit.

Appointment at Grade 7/Research Associate level is dependent on having a PhD. Those who have submitted their thesis but not yet received their PhD will be appointed at Grade 5/Research Assistant level in the first instance, which will be amended to Grade 7/Research Associate once the PhD has been awarded.

The Research Fellow will be employed as either a Research Assistant (pre PhD award) or Research Associate (post PhD award) within the Department of Engineering.

Salary Range: Research Assistant: £26,715 - £30,942; Research Associate: £32,816 - £40,322.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 5 years in the first instance.
