Postdoctoral researcher - Care science with a focus on person-centred care and drug use

The number of people living with chronic illnesses is increasing, which in turn leads to rising healthcare costs. Medications are the most common treatment for chronic diseases, but drugs are often not taken as prescribed. This results in an extensive and costly public health problem. Person centring is considered an appropriate way of working to improve both drug prescription and use.

To support patients in their understanding of the benefits of being compliant to medication, the Institute for health and care sciences is seeking a postdoctoral researcher for a research project on person centred e-health where patients, relatives and professionals in healthcare and care work together to support and improve compliance concerning use of prescribed medication.

Job assignments

The activities consist of evaluating projects in an e-health context, and for people with several prescribed medications, including; designing and evaluating complex interventions focusing on person centring and use of medication / compliance in both national and international collaboration. Moreover, conducting data collection process; patient interviews, home visits to patients is a part of daily work. Moreover, both quantitative and qualitative methodology will be used to evaluate the project, therefore, the applicant needs to be skilled in these methodologies.

Experience of personal-centred e-health as well as international collaboration on medication use is a merit. Furthermore, it is desirable to have clinical experience of people with polypharmacy, as well as experience of both quantitative and qualitative approaches.

Due to the nature of the activities, good and adequate knowledge of Swedish is a requirement along with a good level of written and spoken English.

Personal characteristics such as collaboration skills (both within the organisation as well as externally), flexibility and being able to independently pursue tasks will be taken into account in the evaluation of the candidate’s suitability for the position.
