Postdoctoral researcher in Computational Biology

The position will be located at the newly established Computational Biology Group of the University of Hohenheim in Stuttgart. The junior research group is part of the Institute of Biology and is associated with the bioinformatics section of the Hohenheim Computational Science Lab. The position is funded within the BMBF junior consortium “CKDNapp – Chronic Kidney Disease Nephrologist's App”, which designs a clinical decision support software to help physicians in treating patients with chronic kidney disease. Within the Hohenheim Computational Biology group, the underlying algorithms will be developed. These are algorithms for network inference, causal extensions thereof, and other machine learning methods, such as platform robust analysis techniques.

We are seeking an experienced researcher on the postdoctoral level with a PhD in computer sciences, mathematics, or physics that is able to work in a highly interdisciplinary work environment of medical doctors, physicists, biologists, and computer scientists. Essential requirements are

    • Research experience proven by publications
    • Excellent programming skills in, e.g., Python or C
    • Solid mathematical background, e.g., in computational statistics or related fields
    • Good writing, language, and communication skills
    • An open and enthusiastic personality that wants to develop new computational and statistical tools
