Job Description

Dr. Johnna Swartz at the University of California, Davis is recruiting a Postdoctoral Scholar to begin around spring/summer 2023 (start date flexible) to work on an NIMH-funded study examining associations between adversity, protective factors, brain function, mental health, and allostatic load in a longitudinal dataset of Mexican-origin youth followed from childhood to early adulthood (the California Families Project, https://www.californiafamiliesproject.org/. Major responsibilities of the postdoc will include aggregating and cleaning longitudinal data, helping to pre-process fMRI data, performing statistical analyses, and presenting and publishing data from the study through conference presentations and peer-reviewed publications. This position is guaranteed for 1 year, and there is the possibility for renewal dependent on performance and funding. The postdoc will also have the opportunity to develop mentorship experience by mentoring graduate students and undergrads in the lab. This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with expertise in at least one of the following areas who would like to develop expertise in additional areas including: longitudinal data analysis, fMRI data analysis, analysis of allostatic load, and research on health disparities.

Qualifications

Minimum:
-PhD in Psychology, Human Development, Neuroscience, or a related field
-Strong statistical training (preferred but not required: longitudinal statistics and structural equation modeling)
-Excellent writing and communication skills
-Ability to work independently and to work well with others
-Excellent organizational skills
-A strong publication record demonstrating prior experience with any of the research topics listed above

Preferred:
-Experience analyzing fMRI data
-Experience working on a large collaborative longitudinal study

$55,632-66,600 depending on experience level
