Description

The Institute for Collaborative Biotechnologies (ICB) at the University of California, Santa Barbara, is actively seeking a Postdoctoral Scholar to conduct research in innovative molecular genetics and biophysical research on protein
structure/function/assembly.

The Protein Postdoctoral Scholar incumbent's research pursuits will build upon Professor Dan Morse's recent investigations of mechanisms governing dynamically tunable protein assembly (cf. J. Biol. Chem.
294: 16804-16815 (2019) doi: 10.1074/jbc.RA119.010339; J. Biol. Chem. 291: 4058-4068 (2016)
doi: 10.1074/jbc.M115.686014), with extensions to amyloid or other proteins. The position is due to begin in Fall 2020 for initially 1 year, with possibility of further extension.

Job Responsibilities:
The appointment to this position will provide a full-time training program of advanced academic preparation and research training under the mentorship of Professor Dan Morse. It is expected that the postdoctoral scholar will work closely with other junior and senior Morse lab researchers on innovative molecular genetics and biophysical research. Additional responsibilities include contributions to scholarly publications, overseeing laboratory and safety protocols, and mentoring of junior colleagues.

Basic qualifications
At the time of application, candidates must hold a Ph.D. or be enrolled in a Ph.D. or equivalent international program.

Additional qualifications
PhD in molecular, cellular, or developmental biology, genetics, or closely related discipline(s) by time of appointment.

Preferred qualifications
Demonstrable expertise in relevant molecular genetics and/or biophysics of proteins.
