Position description

The Oberholster Laboratory in the Department of Viticulture and Enology at UC Davis, College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher with extensive expertise in multi-omics systems biology research. The research project focusses on the impact of grapevine red blotch virus (GRBV) alter grape cell wall composition through a ‘omic’ approach, linking cell wall compositional and transcriptional data to years of GRBV infection and virus titer levelvs. The candidate will be responsible for developing and optimizing methodologies, collecting samples, data analysis and disseminating findings via presentations and peer-reviewed publications.

The candidate will have excellent writing and oral communication skills and have the potential to write grants and high-quality scientific papers.

Contingent upon mutual agreement, satisfactory performance and the availability of funds, your appointment may be renewed. It is within the university’s sole discretion to appoint, reappoint, or not reappoint a postdoctoral scholar. The salary and benefits will be provided based on UC Davis policy for the postdoctoral scholar based on their experience.

This position is eligible for J-1 visa sponsorship. This position is not eligible for H1-B sponsorship.

A Ph.D in Systems Biology, Biochemistry, Biology, or Plant Sciences (at time of position start)

Preferred qualifications
  • Experience in grapes and wine is a plus
  • Experience in analytical chemistry is a plus
