Duties: The successful applicant will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses and must have a solid background in Economics.  The applicant must have demonstrable capacity to teach at least one of the following courses:  Agricultural economics, econometrics, public sector economics, monetary economics, resource economics, environmental economics, and financial economics.  Econometrics and public sector economics will be an added advantage.

Requirements:  The applicants must have: (i) At least a relevant doctorate in Economics.  (ii) at least 9 years of teaching experience or equivalent at a university or comparable institution; ((iii) have a good and sustained record of research and publications with at least 24 publications, 12 of which should be refereed/accredited journal articles in internationally recognised indexing databases; the remaining 12 publications could be journal articles, book chapters, peer reviewed conference proceedings etc. published by recognised publishers. (iv) The candidate must be first author in at least one quarter of the required journal publications.  An academic book maybe equivalent to a maximum of 4 articles in referred / accredited journals depending on quality standing of the publisher.  (v) Evidence of Governance, and social engagement (Profession and Community); (vi) evidence of effective academic leadership; (vii) Evidence of mentorship. The following will be an added advantage: (viii) a record of attracting external funding; (ix) multi-disciplinary experience in teaching, research, administration or consultancy work.  

Professor level, the candidate should possess: (i) a PhD in Economics; (ii) should have at least nine (9) years relevant teaching experience at a university or comparable institution; (iii) have a minimum of twenty-four (24) pieces of research products (e.g. articles, book chapters, peer reviewed conference proceedings, etc.) published by recognized publishers. Twelve (12) of these must be articles in refereed/accredited journals in internationally recognized indexing databases. The remaining twelve (12) publications could be journal articles, book chapters, peer reviewed conference proceedings, etc. published by recognized publishers; (iv) An academic book may be equivalent to a maximum of 4 articles in refereed/accredited journals, depending on the quality of standing (v) sustained research output: a minimum of 3 peer reviewed publications every four years; (vi) Sustained research activity: on-going externally supported research (e.g. funded/commissioned); (vii) paper/poster presentations at international conferences at least once every two years; (viii) be lead and/or single author in at least one-quarter of the required journal publications; (ix) There should also be evidence of mentorship of early career scholars/graduate students; (x) publications should be spread internationally and across journals; (xi) significant research impact, including but not limited to citations, the h-index, patents, policy applications, peer reviews, publications that are prescribed texts in other institutions etc. (required in at least 3 of the these); (xii) acknowledged by peers as being of national and international research standing (e.g. peer review of new research proposals; reference in research committees; editor/guest editor/reviewer of refereed/accredited national and international publishers; editorial board member of an international publisher in a relevant field; invitations as keynote speaker at national and international/symposia (required in at least 3 of the these); (xiii) evidence of governance and social engagement; (xiv) research collaborations with other institutions or organisations; (xv) research collaboration with cognate disciplines in the University; (xvi) external examiner for Masters and/or PhD theses internationally. The following will be added advantages: (i) research awards and other forms of research recognition, where appropriate.

The curriculum vitae should contain a detailed list of published works, clearly specifying titles of publications, ISBN numbers (for books, book chapters and conference proceedings), dates of publications, name(s) of publishers and name(s) of co-authors, if any, and number of pages. The works should be categorized into books, book chapters, refereed journals, non-refereed works and consultancies, etc.).
