About the Opportunity
An excellent opportunity exists for a staff specialist as Professor in Paediatric Allergy and Clinical Immunology, a conjoint position with the University of Sydney. The position will hold a lead clinical role in the speciality within the Children’s Hospital’s at Westmead - part of the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical graduates eligible for registration in NSW for appointment as a Conjoint Professor in the Faculty of Medicine and Health, University of Sydney, and as a Senior Staff Specialist at the Sydney Children’s Hospital Network (The Children’s Hospital at Westmead), a teaching hospital of The University of Sydney.

Applicants should have a strong research background and clinical expertise in the area of paediatric allergy and clinical immunology; must possess a higher degree or equivalent and must have proven administrative skills and experience in, and commitment to, medical education.

The successful applicant must hold a Fellowship of the RACP or other specialist recognition as provided for in the Staff Specialist (State) Award.  Applicants must have proven ability to work closely and harmoniously with colleagues and must have highly developed interpersonal skills.

In addition to the clinical and research requirements, the appointee would be expected to demonstrate excellence in teaching and service.  The appointee will contribute to activities of the Clinical School and the Hospital in areas such as curriculum development and implementation.  The appointee would be prepared to accept high level administrative responsibilities and to play a prominent role, particularly in relation to Paediatric Allergy and Clinical Immunology, within the profession, the Hospital and the University.

The appointee will be based primarily at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead within the Department of Allergy and Immunology and will be a member of the Discipline of Child and Adolescent Health, Faculty of Medicine and Health, University of Sydney.  The successful applicant will be employed by The Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network and will have clinical privileges at the Hospital. The appointee will be expected to provide clinical Allergy and Immunology inpatient and outpatient services and to participate in the Immunology on call roster on a pro-rate basis according to FTE.
