The 2021 QS World Rankings by subject area ranked UQ first in Australia and second in the world in sports-related subjects.  The most recent (2015-16) Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) exercise conducted by the Australian Research Council ranked UQ at 5 (well above world standard) in the field of human movement and sports science and 4 (above world standard) in nutrition.

About This Opportunity

An outstanding opportunity exists to provide academic leadership in teaching, research and external engagement in physical activity and health within the School and to form strong productive partnerships in physical activity and health within and beyond the University. 

The School is interested in researchers with expertise in the one or more of the following areas: physical activity and health, physical activity epidemiology, public health, and/or health promotion. Candidates who work in child health (paediatrics) and/or have expertise in advanced analysis of motion sensor technologies (e.g., accelerometry) in laboratory (e.g., validation) and field-based settings (e.g., schools, community settings, health care) are particularly encouraged to apply.

This position is located at our picturesque St Lucia campus, renowned as one of Australia’s most attractive university campuses, and located just 7km from Brisbane’s city centre. Bounded by the Brisbane River on three sides, and with outstanding public transport connections, our 114-hectare site provides a perfect work environment – you can enjoy the best of both worlds: a vibrant campus with the tradition of an established university.

The successful applicant will hold a PhD in a relevant discipline area and have an established international reputation for sustained, outstanding research, teaching and leadership in the field. The appointee will be collaborative and collegial with a track record of fostering productive partnerships within and beyond their immediate work group.
