Job Description

As a member of the teaching staff you can be engaged for providing and supporting education, conducting research, developing activities in the context of social services and in administrative, organizing and coordinating tasks.

As a research professor in Applied Psychology, you are primarily responsible for:

- preparing, implementing and supervising educational activities such as: Exploration internship ; Psychodiagnostic methods 2 ; Project work ; Prevention and education ; 
- the preparation and supervision of the lectures; 
- systematic updating of study material; 
- subject-oriented study and career guidance; 
- competence development (professional and didactic refresher courses); 
- the evaluations of students (and supervision of exams and feedback); 
- participation in exam committees; 
- the development of new study material; 
- taking care of info activities;
- the active search for contacts in the context of research projects; 
- initiating or developing research projects; 
- carrying out scientifically responsible research actions within the "resilient artists" project, and this for 55%; 
- valorising research results; 
- supporting and supervising the Bachelor's thesis and project work; 
- supervising (professional) internships, projects and study trips; 
- participation in all meetings related to these assignment (s), including subject and course-oriented meetings and additional meetings in the context of curriculum renewal, etc.

Information about the project: "resilient artists": The aim of this project is to develop a prevention program that should increase the resilience of performing artists.


You have a master's degree in psychology. 
A bachelor's or master's degree in the performing arts (dance, drama, music) is an added value. 
You preferably have a pedagogical competence certificate. 
You preferably have 5 years of experience in (higher) education and / or in the professional field. 
You have ample experience with psychodiagnostics and preventive work. You have a strong feeling for / experience within the performing arts (dance, drama, music). 
You have experience with (practice-oriented) and qualitative scientific research. 
You preferably have experience in giving internship guidance and supervision.

You can design purposeful, high-quality education by efficiently shaping the learning objectives, the educational learning process and testing. 
You use contemporary information and communication technology in your educational process. 
You are reflective and critical of your own actions and you are prepared to receive additional training to improve your educational quality. 
You have strong communication skills. 
You are an enthusiastic employee. 
You know how to stimulate and motivate a diverse student audience. 
You can work independently as well as in a team and you take care of working with external partners. 
You work in a planned and result-oriented way. 
You are flexible and willing to work until 10 pm.

You can only apply via up to and including 18-8-2019. You must first register. Once registered, you must effectively apply for the relevant vacancy. Your application contains a motivated letter, an extensive CV, a copy of the requested diploma and, if applicable, a declaration of equivalence of the requested diploma.

If you do not speak the administrative language, Dutch, you are willing to learn Dutch up to the ECA level B2. The AP University of Applied Sciences supports international staff with an integration process and offers appropriate language support in the context of Flemish language regulation.

Selection Procedure

The selection is made by a selection committee specifically composed for this vacancy. Based on the submitted applications, this committee decides which candidates are invited for the selection interview. An additional selection round can be organized. The committee then makes a decision.

Commencement of Employment

The selected candidate must comply with the provisions of Article V. 106 of the Codex of higher education of 20 December 2013 regarding access to the positions upon commencement of employment.


Salary Scale

You are appointed to a statutory temporary vacant (renewable) post for 5% from 16/09/2019 or immediately up to and including 20/09/2020. Renewal of appointment is possible after positive evaluation and within the financial and organizational guidelines. After two years and associated positive evaluation and within the financial and organizational guidelines, an appointment of indefinite duration may follow. 
In addition, you are appointed to a statutory temporary 'non' vacancy (replacement assignment) in office for 15% from 16/09/2019 or subsequent to 20/09/2020. (or return holder).
In addition, you will be appointed to a statutory temporary vacant (renewable) post for 55% from 16/09/2019 or immediately up to and including 20/09/2020. Renewal of appointment is possible after positive evaluation and within the financial and organizational guidelines up to a maximum of 20 September 2023 (following approval of the project up to 20 September 2023).

You receive a wage based on scale 502 .

A monetary seniority allowance can be awarded in accordance with the rules governing the granting of a seniority allowance based on the assessment of useful professional experience.

We offer hospitalization insurance if the appointment period exceeds 12 months. For employees with an employment of 70% or more, this is free of charge. Family members of our staff can also join (with a contribution).

You get a full refund of commuting by public transport or a bicycle allowance of 0.165 euros / km.
