Professor (W3) of Central Nervous Causes of Type 2 Diabetes

combined with the lead of the Working Group of Metabolic Neuroimaging at the Institute of Diabetes Research and Metabolic Diseases of Helmholtz Zentrum München at the Tübingen site.

The position is due to commence as soon as possible. 

We are looking for a scholar of distinction with a high international reputation in the study of central nervous function related to type 2 diabetes and hormone action with advanced brain imaging techniques (EEG, MEG, fMRI). He/she must have proven experience in the field of functional parameters of brain and heart development in human fetuses and the influence of gestational diabetes on intrauterine development. The position is linked to the management of the Metabolic Neuroimaging working group, including heading the fetal Magnetoencephalography Center, and the ability to manage scientific units must be proven. 

The scientific excellence has to be proven by international publications and independently acquired third-party funds. The successful candidate will have demonstrated an internationally recognized translational clinical research program. It is expected that the successful candidate organizes and coordinates working groups locally and at remote sites. 

Required qualifications include a PhD or equivalent international degree and postdoctoral qualifications equivalent to the requirements for tenure. This includes evidence of teaching effectiveness.

The appointment will be made in line with the Jülich Model. The future holder of this position will be appointed to Tübingen University as a university professor (pay grade W3) under the terms of a private-law contract and will be granted leave of absence in order to be employed by the Helmholtz Zentrum München at the Tübingen site as the lead of the Working group of Metabolic Neuroimaging at the Institute of Diabetes Research and Metabolic Diseases. The appointment committee’s choice must be approved both by University committees and by the Helmholtz Zentrum München.
