We are seeking to appoint an outstanding and highly motivated individual to the role of Professor in the discipline of Computing Sciences and Information Sciences in the School of Information Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Physics (STEMP).
About the Role
STEMP is one of the largest schools in the University of the South Pacific and is resourced to pursue excellence in teaching and research. The School offers several Undergraduate programs, including two Professional programmes in ICT (Bachelor of Networks & Security and Bachelor of Software Engineering) accredited by the Australian Computer Society, two Engineering programmes (Bachelor of Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering) accredited by Engineering New Zealand, Civil Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Information Systems and Mathematics. STEMP has recently commenced a new Bachelor of Artificial Intelligence Degree Programme.
The School also offers Postgraduate programmes in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Mathematics, and Physics, as well as Master's and PhD programmes across all its disciplines. The school is now considering interested staff who can join the dynamic team and take the school forward, with particular attention to new and expanding fields in Science and Technology, and a focus on the Pacific.
The School is now searching for a Professor in Computing Sciences and Information Sciences. The incumbent will take a leadership role in further strengthening of the core offerings in the school including the maintenance of accreditations of the CS/IS programmes and applying for accreditations for other programmes. The incumbent will also lead the design and development of the curriculum, teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses both on campus and through the flexible modes of delivery, conduct and lead research in relevant areas and contribute to the University’s research directions.

The Person we Seek
To be considered for this position, applicants must have:
(i) A PhD in Computing Sciences and Information Sciences, Or cognate discipline, and be a leading, international authority in this area;
(ii) extensive teaching experience;
(iii) made a sustained and excellent contribution at international level to academic research and leadership within the relevant discipline;
(iv) demonstrated sustained distinction in your interdisciplinary contributions;
(v) championed academic standards and freedom;
(vi) demonstrated excellent communication skills, and the ability to network effectively and interact with a diverse range of students and staff;
(vii) demonstrated sustained leadership in tertiary teaching, including research-informed teaching, curriculum development and the enhancement of teaching quality, and demonstrated commitment to promoting and advancing the principles of equity, inclusion, and diversity;
(viii) an outstanding track record in research, with outcomes of high quality and impact (including peer-reviewed publications, e.g. journal articles, book chapters, monographs), evidence of attracting external funding and/or of principal investigation in international research projects, and proven experience in successfully recruiting and supervising research students to completion;
Professor should also:
(i) Demonstrate excellence in teaching in a multicultural environment;
(ii) Demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills;
(iii) Be experienced with distance and flexible learning;

The position is available for a term of 5 years and may be renewed by mutual agreement.
Salary Range
The University may offer an attractive market loading to exceptional candidates.
