The University of Tübingen Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences invites applications for the position of 

Professor (W3) of Education Science with a Special Focus on 
Adult Education/ Professional Training (m/f/d)

at the Institute for Education Science, to commence at the start of the 2021/2022 winter semester. 

Applicants must have an extensive background in adult education. Applicants will have made relevant contributions to research in this professorship’s field; they will have high-level national and international publications, and will have been successful in raising third-party funding in competition. 

System and organization-related research contributions are expected in at least one of the following macro- and meso-level areas of adult education:

  • Structure and governance in an international comparative perspective; 
  • Organization, control and management; 
  • differential participation structures and transitions in the life course. 

The successful candidate will be expected to collaborate in Education and interdisciplinary research in both the institute and the faculty. Broad methodical and methodological expertise is desirable. 

The holder of the professorship will participate in all the institute’s degree programs and in the training of students in teaching-degree programs (Lehramt). 

Required qualifications include a PhD or equivalent international degree and postdoctoral qualifications equivalent to the requirements for tenure in Education. This includes evidence of teaching effectiveness.
