Position Summary |
The Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking to fill one position as a Professor of the Practice in the Finance academic area. One half of the position will consist of teaching real estate finance courses at the MBA and undergraduate levels at the Kenan-Flagler Business School. The remaining duties will consist of functioning as an Associate Director of Housing Affordability at the Wood Center for Real Estate Studies (WCRES). These duties will consist primarily of: Organizing an annual Housing Affordability Symposium, managing a semiannual speaker series, supporting faculty research needs in affordable housing, working with the WCRES Executive Director to procure endowed funding for its Housing Affordability Initiative (HAI), supporting the creation of affordable housing cases for use in Kenan-Flagler Business School classes, participating in WCRES public relations to drive awareness for the HAI, and managing industry partner relationships around the HAI. Other responsibilities may be added.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Applicants must have at least 15 years industry experience within the commercial real estate industry and a genuine passion to collaborate with students, faculty, and industry partners to identify solutions to the country’s housing affordability crisis.
Additionally, applicants must exhibit demonstrated competency in conference planning, program coordination, fundraising, and relationship cultivation as well as hold at least a Master’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a closely related field. |
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
It is strongly preferred that applicants also possess: (i) Meaningful experience in affordable housing in the educational arena and in practice; (ii) A proven track record demonstrating excellence in teaching real estate courses in a business school setting; and (iii) Successful senior managerial and leadership experience at an academic institution.
