The Faculty of Medicine of the University of Basel and the University Geriatric Medicine FELIX PLATTER are looking to fill the position of Professor of Geriatrics and Chief Physician Acute Geriatrics
 
The University Geriatric Medicine FELIX PLATTER (UAFP) is the largest center for geriatric medicine in Switzerland with currently 308 operated beds and an active track record in teaching and research. The combination of the UAFP's service mandates enables a unique range of services across all stages of the treatment pathway. The UAFP combines the specialized areas of acute geriatric medicine (acute geriatrics), geriatric psychiatry, rehabilitation and the Memory Clinic under one roof with a demand-specific range of services from prevention and early diagnosis through treatment and therapy, to follow up care. The new building, inaugurated in 2019, is specifically designed for aged people and is one of the most innovative buildings of its kind.

Your position

You are responsible for the acute geriatrics department at UAFP in medical, economic and organizational terms. With your clinical expertise and research background, you will strengthen the national and international visibility of geriatrics at the University of Basel and at UAFP. Your clinical expertise and interest in postgraduate and continuing medical education ensures and promotes the education and training of residents and senior physicians in geriatrics according to the guidelines of the Swiss Institute for Continuing Medical Education (SIWF). With your commitment to university research and teaching, you inspire students and promote the next generation of academics in geriatrics. Your participative, goal-oriented understanding of leadership ensures an attractive working environment for academic and clinical specialists.

Your profile

You have broad clinical experience and excellent clinical expertise in the entire field of geriatrics. You have a successful own research activity, including competitive third-party funding, in an associated research area. You have proven experience in interdisciplinary and interprofessional collaboration, strong networking skills and proven leadership experience in an academic environment. Thanks to your distinctive expertise, leadership and communication skills as well as your high social competence, you gain acceptance and trust. You create an attractive working environment, inspire creative, networked and interdisciplinary thinking and action, and support your  staff members. You have good German language skills.
