The Department of Medical Sciences at Uppsala University has ~250 employees and 600 affiliated researchers, primarily through Uppsala University Hospital. The department conducts research ranging from basic disease mechanisms to applied clinical studies, with close links to hospital-based clinical work.
The Occupational and Environmental Medicine (AMM) group studies how environmental factors affect human health across all age groups. Research spans work, indoor, and ambient environments, covering physical, chemical, biological, psychosocial, and organizational exposures. Methodologies include quantitative, qualitative, and intervention studies, along with the development of new measurement techniques.
AMM is a university healthcare unit (USVE) serving as a knowledge center and expert resource for Regions Dalarna, Gävleborg, and Uppsala.
The position covers research, teaching, and clinical work in:
Epidemiology, toxicology, ergonomics, and risk communication
Preventive measures regarding occupational, indoor, and outdoor environmental health
Conduct research and establish an independent research program
Supervise doctoral students and participate in undergraduate and graduate teaching
Clinical work as a specialist physician (~1/3 of the appointment)
Administrative responsibilities and participation in departmental development
Engagement with external stakeholders in occupational and environmental health
Medical degree and Swedish specialist certificate in occupational and environmental medicine (or former occupational/industrial medicine). If the certificate is pending, an application to Socialstyrelsen must be submitted before the deadline.
Eligibility for appointment as professor according to Swedish Higher Education Ordinance (demonstrated research, teaching, and leadership expertise)
Documented ability to teach in Swedish (or another Scandinavian language) and English
Demonstrated research expertise at an international level, including securing competitive grants and supervising doctoral studies
Proven pedagogical skills, including completion of relevant academic teacher training (minimum ten weeks)
Clinical expertise in occupational and environmental medicine
Leadership, administrative, and collaboration skills

Clinical expertise: Experience in patient care and clinical development
