Applicants (m / w / d) should have excellent experimental research in the fields of physiological and / or synthetic microbiology. It is desirable to have expertise in bacterial interactions and microbial diversity (microbiome). The successful candidate (m / w / d) should strengthen the ongoing interdisciplinary research networks for the analysis of spatio-temporal dynamics in prokaryotic model organisms (SFB-TRR174) as well as synthetic biology (GRK2062). The establishment of internationally competitive third-party funded research projects is expected. 
The Faculty of Biology is located in the Biozentrum of the High-Tech Campus Martinsried together with other life sciences of the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (LMU), the Max Planck Society and the Helmholtz Center Munich. Within the Faculty of Biology, service units are available for genomics, bioanalytics, electron microscopy, light microscopy, proteomics and metabolomics. 

Teaching requires participation in the bachelor's and master's programs as well as in the training of teachers and minor subjects at the Faculty of Biology.


With this call, the LMU addresses in particular highly qualified junior researchers who have demonstrated an extraordinary potential for a further career in science after having completed a university degree and an above-average doctoral degree or similar special qualification through their achievements in research and teaching. 

The appointment takes place in the presence of the civil service requirements in a civil servant relationship for a period of six years. With a positive evaluation of professional, pedagogical and personal suitability, the temporary civil servant relationship can be converted into a civil service contract for a minimum of three years at the earliest. 

Within the framework of the LMU Academic Career Program there is the possibility of a later increase in the professorship from W2 to W3 in exceptional cases and with outstanding achievements in research and teaching.
