University of Heidelberg

Due to the leading position of the University of Heidelberg and the neighboring biomedical research institutions as well as the embedding in the IPMB, the professorship has an excellent networking and development potential. The environment opens up numerous opportunities to directly and biologically or biotechnologically derived active ingredients in therapeutically oriented research programs and networks to introduce and characterize.

The job holder should be able to represent the subject of Pharmaceutical Biology to the full extent in research and teaching and have already gained international recognition. In the research, a focus on the extraction of novel drugs and drug candidates, including pharmacologically active proteins, by means of biological and biotechnological methods is required. Above average third-party funding and publication services are expected as well as potential for cooperation with other research groups of Heidelberg University and its neighboring institutions.

The integration of the professorship into courses of study of the IPMB opens up the possibility of research-oriented teaching, which has achieved considerable visibility in recent years, for example through the successes in the iGEM competition.

The candidate is expected to have the ability and willingness to personally hold theoretical courses in the biology-oriented subjects for the Pharmacy State Examination Program and the Molecular Biotechnology Bachelor's and Master's Degree Programs, and to lead and teach practical courses in these areas with high competence shape. These are in particular lectures, seminars and internships in the areas of pharmaceutical biology, fundamentals of biology, as well as pharmaceutical biotechnology. Appropriate experience in academic teaching in the field of pharmaceutical biology or closely related subjects is required.
