KU Leuven has a vacancy at Campus Group T Leuven for a full-time (junior or senior) professor in the field of software systems and software development for edge computing. We are looking for internationally oriented candidates with teaching and research competence in computer sciences and with an excellent research record in the field of this vacancy. The new faculty member will be part of the DistriNet division of the KU Leuven Department of Computer Science (distrinet.cs.kuleuven.be), an internationally leading research group with recognized expertise in secure software, distributed systems and software engineering. The new professor will also become a member of the Faculty of Engineering Technology, which offers academic but also application-oriented engineering programs on six campuses in Flanders. The main teaching tasks will take place at Campus Groep T Leuven (www.kuleuven.be/campusgroept), an international and entrepreneurial engineering campus in the city center of Leuven. Every year, more than 2,200 students enroll on campus for the Bachelor's and Master's degree programs in Industrial Engineering, which are offered in both English and Dutch. The new professor is expected to collaborate with the researchers at the e-Media Research Lab on campus. Profile

You have a PhD in Computer Science or equivalent and you have research experience in a field related to Software Systems and Software Development for Edge Computing.

You have a strong research record in the field. The research quality is evidenced by your publications or by your research experience in the industry. You have the ambition to contribute to the valorisation of research in industry and society. International experience is an important advantage.

You have demonstrable qualities for academic education. Teaching experience is a plus.

You have organizational skills and you are collegial. You also possess leadership capabilities in a university context.

A good knowledge of English is a requirement. KU Leuven offers academic English courses.

The administrative language of KU Leuven is Dutch. If you have no or insufficient knowledge of Dutch upon recruitment, KU Leuven provides a training offer that should allow you to participate in board meetings and to learn Dutch to a level required for permanent appointment.

Before you teach a lesson in Dutch or English, we offer you the opportunity to acquire the required knowledge of Dutch and English respectively.

Depending on your file and qualifications, you will be appointed or appointed to one of the ranks of the senior academic staff: lecturer, senior lecturer, full professor or full professor. Junior researchers are in principle appointed as tenure track lecturers for a period of 5 years; afterwards, if the evaluation is positive, they are permanently appointed as senior lecturers.

To facilitate scientific integration and research in the first phase, a research position is made available equivalent to a doctoral bursary for 4 years. If you have no other substantial financing available, you can apply for a start-up financing of 110,000 euros if you are recruited for at least 50%.
