Professor Position in Science

The Faculty of Science at University of Ottawa invites applications for a replacement position at the rank of Assistant Professor to fulfill vital teaching roles in University of Ottawa’s Department of Biology. The successful applicant will have an excellent track record of teaching and communication, preferably in both French and English, and coordinate courses with the Biology and Biomedical Sciences curricula. The candidate will teach the equivalent of five courses in the 2021-2022 academic year in person and/or remotely.

Required qualifications: PhD in Biology or a related discipline. A strong track record in teaching is vital. Research experience in physiology or molecular biology would be an asset. The candidate must be able to teach in both French and English, the two official languages of the University, from the outset of this position.

Duties: The responsibilities include: 1) teaching five courses or equivalent in the 2021-2022 academic year, likely including multi-section first year biology courses and 2) performing an active role within the department by contributing to administrative and academic activities of the department and faculty. The start date of the position is July 1, 2021. This position will be tenable for a two year period and renewable for up to one extra year.

Terms: Non-tenure track.

Salary: The salary scale for Assistant Professors is governed by the Collective Agreement with the Association of Professors of the University of Ottawa (APUO).
