The core tasks of the professorship include the development of an internationally competitive research program in the area of the development of basic bioinformatics methods for the evaluation of data from genomics and systems genetics, in particular in the field of single cell analysis. We are therefore looking for an internationally recognized personality who combines interdisciplinary expertise in her research work at the interface between bioinformatics and molecular genomics to develop and apply state-of-the-art computer-aided approaches in cancer research, including the latest methods of machine learning, to decipher molecular variations and their consequences advance.

The chair is involved with the direction of a department in the research program Functional and Structural Genome Research of the DKFZ. It places emphasis on close co-operation with other departments of the DKFZ as well as on the establishment and care of co-operation with the University of Heidelberg. Close cooperation with existing service units at the DKFZ is also desirable in order to ensure broad access to newly developed bioinformatics and computer-aided technologies for the entire institute as quickly as possible.

In addition to adequate academic qualifications and a top-level scientific research program with interdisciplinary studies, applicants (m / w / d) should have international research experience and cooperate successfully with internationally recognized research groups. In addition, relevant prior experience in the recruitment and implementation of third-party funded projects should also be available through research consortia.

Prerequisite for the application is a university degree, the doctorate and, in accordance with § 47 Abs. 2 Landeshochschulgesetz Baden-Württemberg, the habilitation or a successfully evaluated junior professorship or a comparable qualification.
