Professorship for Neuroimmunology and Imaging

The permanent joint appointment will be carried out according to the “Jülicher Modell”.

The applicant (f/m/d) is an international expert for neuron-glia interactions, especially migroglia in neurodegenerative diseases. The main scientific focus is the impact of neuron-glia interaction and communication on learning and memory processes on the molecular and cellular level. Especially, the role of inhibitory neurons for the dysfunction of learning and memory processes shall be addressed. The candidate uses high resolution or super-resolution intravital microscopy methods in mammalian model organisms. Prerequisites are excellent scientific expertise, publication track record and successful application for third-party funding. Further prerequisites are teaching expertise, supervision of scientific personnel and excellent cooperation skills.

The appointment and allocation of the professorship aims to strengthen research and education within one of the research areas of the faculty (www.ukb.uni-bonn.de/Forschung). The applicant should integrate into existing and future collaborative research centers (e.g. SFB1089, Cluster of Excellence).

The appointment will be carried out by the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-University in collaboration with the DZNE Bonn. The appointee will be recruited as “ordentlicher Professor” by the government of North-Rhine-Westfalia and granted to leave to the DZNE. The appointment is for lifetime. The selection of candidates will be carried out by the DZNE in collaboration with the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-University.

The candidate obtained a master’s degree in natural sciences or a medical doctoral degree, the german Habilitation or equal scientific achievements and teaching experience, in accordance with §36 of the Hochschulgesetz NRW.
