For around 15 years, Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences in the Lower Rhine region of Germany has provided an innovative, interdisciplinary and international education to young minds from around the world. We offer a total of 37 undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes in four multidisciplinary faculties: Technology and Bionics, Life Sciences, Society and Economics, and Communication and Environment. We are currently seeking a qualified expert in the Faculty of Society and Economics in Kleve to support our academic mission in the following capacity:

 

Professorship of Early Childhood Education

Salary grade “W2” according to LBesG NRW | 03/F3/24

 

YOUR FUTURE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Represent the field of early childhood education in research and teaching in the Faculty of Society and Economics
  • Teach curriculum content in undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes
  • Interdisciplinary collaboration in research and teaching
  • Actively contribute to the continued international development of the Faculty of Society and Economics
  • Teach introductory courses as well as elective courses in German and English on subject areas in and adjacent to early childhood education
  • Actively engage in academic self-administration
  • Actively contribute to re-accreditation processes
  • Actively contribute to the continued development of postgraduate degree programmes

 

YOUR SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • A completed degree in early childhood education, education science or social pedagogy, as well as a relevant PhD or comparable degree
  • Proven expertise in the areas of children’s rights, participation, child protection and children’s studies at both national and international levels
  • Practical work experience at organisations in education or research with a focus on pedagogy
  • Research expertise demonstrated by relevant publications, lectures, presentations and projects
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in German and English (C1 level according to CEFR)
  • Openness, enthusiasm and the ability to work well in a team

General requirements for the appointment of new professors are derived from § 36 of the Higher Education Act of North Rhine-Westphalia (Hochschulgesetz NRW). The following qualifications are therefore mandatory for all applicants to this position:

  • A PhD in hand from a research university in a relevant field
  • Excellent academic and research skills, usually demonstrated by the quality of a doctoral dissertation
  • At least five years of relevant career experience in the applied use or development of research findings and methodology; at least three of these years must have been outside of higher education
