About the Role

The Department of Accounting and Financial Management at the School of Business and Management, Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) invites applications from outstanding candidates for the post of Reader or Professor in Accounting. We are seeking applications from ambitious, dynamic and engaged individuals with a distinguished publication record to join an innovative and progressive institution. The Department of Accounting and Financial Management has recently launched a new, prestigious undergraduate programme, BSc Accountancy - Flying Start, in collaboration with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW). This post offers an exciting opportunity for a highly-motivated and talented leader to make a major contribution to our suite of programmes and to the continuing development of internationally excellent research at QMUL.

About You

Candidates will be established or emerging academic leaders with strong international networks and a clearly defined research programme. They will have a strong publication record and will have demonstrated an ability to publish at the world-leading level. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will have experience of applying for and securing external research funding, with ambitions to build and lead a research team focused on their specialism and to provide intellectual direction. In addition, applicants should outline their previous leadership experience and indicate their willingness to take on academic leadership roles. The School of Business and Management is located in close proximity to the City of London and already has some prestigious external partnerships. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate how they might maximise opportunities for public engagement/income generation and help to develop new alliances with external partners and stakeholders. All senior colleagues in the Department are expected to engage with and mentor junior colleagues in developing their research, publications and career opportunities. The School values inclusivity, collegiality and diversity and the applicant appointed to the post will need to demonstrate a shared affinity for these important values.

Whilst we will welcome applications from all areas of the discipline, applicants will need to demonstrate how their research interests complement those within the Department or School and how they can contribute to the development of accounting programmes. The School is strongly committed to the development of all its staff and we will ensure that the successful candidate has the opportunity to develop their teaching, research and administrative skills.
