Research Assistant / Associate in Advanced Fluorescence Microscopy

Applications are invited for an exciting new role in advanced microscopy research at the Cambridge Advanced Imaging Centre (CAIC). CAIC, led by Dr Kevin O'Holleran, develops advanced bioimaging capability in a highly collaborative environment with end-users in the School of Biological Sciences. The role will be essential for delivering an advanced photo-manipulation microscope capable of cutting-edge optogenetics, photo-ablation and optical trapping experiments.

Candidates should have expertise in optical system design and implementation for bioimaging applications. Experience in developing optical tweezers and beam shaping tools for biological applications is desirable. Applicants must hold a PhD, or be close to obtaining a PhD, in a relevant subject, have excellent knowledge of optical physics and experience of working in an interdisciplinary environment. Experience in programming in LabVIEW, Matlab and Python will be advantageous.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 2 years in the first instance.
