Research Assistant I/II in the Division of Speech and Hearing Sciences within the Faculty of Education (Ref.: 495641) (to commence as soon as possible, on a one-year temporary term, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)

Applicants should possess a Master’s degree in Psychology, Speech and Hearing Sciences, Statistics, Computer Science, Linguistics, or other related disciplines. They should be bilingual in Cantonese and English who are interested in working amiably with infants and children with special educational needs. They should also have excellent interpersonal, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills; a knack for accuracy and attention to details; the ability to work independently and as part of a team; and the ability to prioritize and work under pressure. Those with strong statistics and data analysis skills are preferred.

The appointee will work on two related research projects that examine cognitive and linguistic factors influencing word reading and reading comprehension difficulties in children with developmental dyslexia and/or with Autism Spectrum Disorders. He/She will be responsible for recruiting participants, conducting psycholinguistics experiments with school-age children, performing data analysis with R and Mplus, organizing parent-teacher workshops, and presenting results.  He/She will also assist in training undergraduate research volunteers and perform other administrative duties in the Speech, Language and Reading Lab at HKU (https://slrlab.edu.hku.hk/).  Applicants who have responded to the previous advertisement (Ref.: 494035) need not re-apply.
