The Institute of Clinical Sciences is one of six Institutes within Sahlgrenska Academy at the University of Gothenburg. We conduct research and education that puts people's health and quality of life in focus. We represent 16 different research areas and are divided into four sections. Through a fruitful collaboration with the healthcare and Sahlgrenska University Hospital, we have developed joint projects and meeting places that benefits both health care and research.

The post is fulltime but part-time can be discussed. You will work in a research group with co-workers both in Gothenburg and internationally. Within the resesarch projects in Gothenburg, there are around 15 members in the research group. The research that is driven from the research group leader focuses on preeclampsia. The research ranges from clinical studies with pregnant women but also an experimental animal model. The research is also international with ongoing projects in both South Africa and Chile. 

Duties 

As a biomedical scientist/research assistant, you will be a part of the research group at the center of perinatal medicin. You should have a genuine interest for laboratory work and have the ability to execute laboratory work both in vitro and in vivo. Your work tasks will include analyses of samples with different types of molecular methods such as genetic analyses, protein analyses and different in vitro and in vivo techniques. An important part of the day to day work is handling animals, primarily rat.  

Qualifications 

The applicant should be certified biomedical analyst or similar competence. We are looking for a person well acquainted with laboratory work. For the post, it is required that you are thorough, well structured and service-minded. Further, you should be flexible in your work and have excellent communication skills. It is important that you can work independently at the same time as you are comfortable working in a group. A high degree of proficiency in spoken and written English language is required. Earlier experience of research projects within brain research or circulation physiology and / or experimental work with in vivo and in vitro approaches. Knowledge and experience from animal work is also a merit. Ability to work in periods of high workload and handle several projects in parallell is important. When allocating the post, emphasis will be on personality and suitability.

At the University of Gothenburg, a license is required for biomedical analysts. If there is no license, but the person still has equivalent competence and is judged to be the best suited for the post, the title of research assistant will be used. 

Employment 

The employment is a permanent position, full time and placed at the the Institute of Clinical Science, department of obstetrics and gynecology. Probationary period may apply. First day of employment: As agreed.
