Work­ing field:

Sci­entific col­lab­or­a­tion in the BMBF joint pro­ject "SlagCEM - High-qual­ity cements and pig iron from steel mill slag". You are respons­ible for the plan­ning and imple­ment­a­tion of all work pack­ages related to the hydra­tion prop­er­ties of the post-treated LD slag. You will fun­da­ment­ally exam­ine the mater­i­als using chem­ical and min­er­alo­gical meth­ods and, in addi­tion, use stand­ard­ized pro­ced­ures to test their applic­a­tion poten­tial as a cement clinker sub­sti­tute. Addi­tional tasks include: test­ing and eval­u­at­ing the dur­ab­il­ity prop­er­ties of the new mater­i­als; sci­entific eval­u­ation and pro­cessing of the invest­ig­a­tions car­ried out; coordin­a­tion of the cooper­a­tion with the other pro­ject part­ners; par­ti­cip­a­tion in pro­ject dis­cus­sions and present­a­tion of res­ults at con­fer­ences; pre­par­a­tion of reports and pub­lic­a­tion of the res­ults in basic and applied journ­als.


  • Suc­cess­fully com­pleted uni­versity degree (Mas­ter, Dip­lom or equi­val­ent) in civil engin­eer­ing, mater­i­als sci­ence with a focus on build­ing mater­i­als, chem­istry, min­er­alogy or equi­val­ent
  • In-depth know­ledge in the field of build­ing mater­i­als, inor­ganic bind­ers and con­struc­tion chem­ical addit­ives are a pre­requis­ite
  • Exper­i­ence in the pro­duc­tion and / or test­ing of build­ing mater­i­als is desir­able
  • Good com­mand of Ger­man and Eng­lish, both spoken and writ­ten
  • A high level of motiv­a­tion and the abil­ity to work inde­pend­ently in an inter­na­tional set­ting are required.
The applic­a­tion must indic­ate any exist­ing exper­i­ence in the field of the advert­ised topic and pre­vi­ously used ana­lysis meth­ods must be indic­ated. The oppor­tun­ity of a doc­tor­ate is given.
