Research Assistant in Carbon Nanotube Microdevices

University of Cambridge Department of Engineering

United Kingdom

Applications are invited for a Research Assistant in the Department of Engineering, to work on the development of new methods to structure and integrated carbon nanotubes in advanced microsystems. The post holder will be located at the University of Cambridge in the group of Prof. Michael De Volder (www.nanomanufacturing.eng.cam.ac.uk/).

This role will focus on the development of advanced fabrication methods to structure carbon nanotubes and integrate them into microsystems using lithographic processes. Key responsibilities of the candidate include the development of novel methods to structure nanotubes and integrate them with advanced lithographic processes on Si wafers. In addition, the candidate is expected to be familiar with carbon nanotube characterisation techniques such as Raman spectroscopy, electron microscopy and thermographic analysis.

We will consider candidates with various research backgrounds including engineering, chemical engineering and material science. Applicants are required to have relevant experience in some of the following areas: nanotechnology, chemical vapour deposition of carbon nanotubes, lithographic processing, and material characterisation methods such as Raman spectroscopy, electron microscopy and thermographic analysis.

Salary Ranges: Research Assistant: £26,715 - £30,942

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 24 months in the first instance.

Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a health assessment.
