About the Role
Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research assistant within the Centre for Cell Biology & Cutaneous Research at Barts and the London School of Medicine. The Blizard Institute at Barts and The London School of Medicine (part of Queen Mary University of London, QMUL) has an international reputation for excellence in fundamental, translational, and clinical research. Dr Biddle’s group work to understand the lineage plasticity that drives tumour metastasis and therapeutic resistance in oral squamous cell carcinoma. The post-holder will use single cell RNAseq and CRISPR technology to identify and manipulate key molecular pathways controlling the ability to produce metastatic cancer stem cells. They will then investigate the effect of manipulating these pathways on tumour metastasis using advanced tissue culture and human tissue models, including a metastasis-on-a-chip microfluidic device. This fits within our overall aim of developing better treatments for metastatic cancer through understanding cancer stem cells.
About You
Experience in cell culture and molecular biology/RNA analysis is essential. Further expertise in at least some of the following techniques would be ideal, but we are particularly looking for drive and potential:
