The Faculty of Education at the University of Cambridge wishes to appoint a full-time Research Assistant to work on a large-scale project with ten partner institutions, funded by the EC Horizon 2020 programme and led by Dr Fiona Maine. The project works in schools across Europe to support the development of young people's cultural literacy, which is defined as a set of competences and dispositions moving beyond knowledge of European culture into an awareness of one's own cultural identities and those of others. It works with teachers from primary and secondary schools to develop a programme of cultural literacy learning, focusing on the development of dialogue and argumentation as children read and respond to visual narratives of European origin.

The postholder will support the collection of data in schools (through video and audio recording in classrooms) and will manage the storage and organisation of the data. They will assist in keeping the website up-to-date, coding transcript data and prepare project materials for publication. The successful candidate will also support the organisation of an international semi-virtual conference in 2020.

Applicants should have at least an undergraduate degree and a high level of technical and IT skills, including video/audio recording editing and website management. They will have experience of managing and organising data sets, with excellent attention to detail. The postholder will be highly organised and ideally have experience of working in schools with young people.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available from 01 April 2020 until 30 April 2021 in the first instance.
